Guardian Newspapers has posted an interview with Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). From the post:
The social and economic dimensions of providing education for all, within the context of prevailing national circumstances of dwindling financial and other resources in the face of development needs, are heavy. The ever-continuing growth in Nigeria’s population, the attendant escalating demand for education at all levels, the difficulty of resourcing education through the traditional means of face-to-face classroom bound mode, and the compelling need to provide education for all irrespective of environmental, social or cultural circumstances, have meant that the country must, of necessity, find the appropriate and cost effective means to respond adequately to the huge unmet demand for education.

Sir, i kindly ask that when are we writing our e-exam? For more than 5 months,1st semester e-exam has not started,i suggest dt d old calender of d school should be changed to new one where d calender should not be more 4 months @ least three and half months after which e-exam commences, for many youths are admitted into d sch. to avoid academic delay in d life of d youth, for most are not working. That in fact as in,d new calender will make d sch. d best and formost university in Nigeria. For where there is academic calender progress in country like ours without strike and other factors if d above suggestn is condered,NOUN will be more progressive than now. If conder dt d sch. continues with d old calender of 5,6 months preparatn, thereafter e-exam,no Nigeria students/youths will love to sch. in NOUN b/cos of delay in d sch. system. Bye, Hundrend level student, fresher. Ilorin study centre.

Sir, I’m eternally grateful to God for using former President Olusegun Obasanjo to make the ODL a reality in Nigeria. My joy knows no bound since I embarked on the program – M.Ed. Education Administration and Planning in 2008/2009 Session at Ado-Ekiti Centre. The Centre Management team has been wonderful, the facilitators excellent. Thanks a million! Keep the flag at full mast!

i want to suggest that the issue of this E-exam is really delaying our calender of activities. therefore the school should first of finish this 2008/2009 session before introducing the e-exam.
